Cardiovascular Conditions

At Tellica Imaging, we are committed to providing advanced imaging technology for accurate diagnosis of cardiovascular conditions. Our imaging tests empower providers to develop effective treatment plans for a variety of conditions that affect the heart and blood vessels.

These cardiovascular conditions impact blood flow and can lead to serious complications. Therefore, maintaining a healthy cardiovascular system is crucial for your overall well-being.

At Tellica Imaging, we can diagnose a wide range of cardiovascular conditions.

Aneurysms

Aneurysms are weak bulges that can develop in the walls of your blood vessels, typically your arteries. These bulges can grow over time, thinning out the artery walls.

In time, an aneurysm can rupture, causing life-threatening internal bleeding. Early detection of aneurysms is crucial for preventing severe complications.

Aneurysms most commonly occur in the aorta, which is the largest artery in your body and carries oxygen-rich blood from your heart to the rest of the body. Thoracic aneurysms develop in the chest cavity, along the section of the aorta that travels through there. Abdominal aneurysms form in the part of the aorta that runs through the abdomen.

Tellica Imaging offers advanced CT and MRI scans that provide detailed visualizations of your blood vessels. These scans allow providers to identify aneurysms even in their early stages when symptoms may be absent.

Aortic Dissection

An aortic dissection occurs when a tear forms within the inner lining of the aorta wall. This tear allows blood to flow between the layers of the aorta, weakening it and potentially leading to a rupture. Early and accurate diagnosis is crucial for successful treatment of aortic dissection.

Aortic dissection can cause severe pain, often sudden and localized to the area of the dissection. Symptoms can include chest pain accompanied by sweating, nausea, and shortness of breath. These symptoms can mimic other conditions, making early diagnosis essential.

At Tellica Imaging, we can use CT angiography (CTA) scans, which combine x-rays with a contrast dye to visualize blood flow within vessels. CTA scans are highly effective in detecting dissections and helping healthcare providers determine the best course of treatment.

Aortic dissection is a complex condition requiring a multidisciplinary approach.  Tellica Imaging is committed to offering your healthcare provider with the clear and accurate imaging information they need to diagnose this condition promptly.

Vascular Evaluations

Imaging tests for vascular evaluations assess the pattern of blood flow throughout the body. These evaluations can identify vascular diseases that restrict or block blood flow, such as coronary artery disease (CAD) and peripheral artery disease (PAD).

Our vascular evaluations use advanced imaging technology to provide a detailed picture of your circulatory system. Early diagnosis of vascular conditions allows for prompt intervention and treatment, potentially preventing complications like stroke, heart attack, and even tissue loss.

Tellica Imaging offers CTA scans for vascular evaluations. CTA scans provide detailed anatomical information about your blood vessels to assess blood flow velocity and identify potential blockages.

Advanced Cardiac Imaging Services

In addition to the diagnostic capabilities offered by CT and MRI scans, we also offer a range of advanced imaging techniques to assess your heart health and identify potential risks for CAD.

Coronary Calcium Scoring

Coronary calcium scoring is a quick, non-invasive scan that measures the amount of calcium buildup in the walls of your coronary arteries.  Calcium deposits are often associated with plaque buildup, which can narrow arteries and restrict blood flow to the heart muscle.

A higher coronary calcium score indicates an increased risk of developing CAD.

Coronary CTA (CCTA)

Coronary CTA (CCTA) is a minimally invasive imaging technique that utilizes x-rays and contrast dye to create detailed 3D images of your coronary arteries. This scan provides a clear visualization of the anatomy of your coronary arteries, revealing any blockages or narrowings.

CCTA is a highly effective tool for diagnosing CAD and identifying the location and severity of blockages.

CCTA with Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR)

Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) is a non-invasive technique that utilizes advanced software to analyze images obtained from a CCTA. This software estimates the functional significance of any blockages identified in the coronary arteries.

Traditional FFR involves inserting a catheter into the coronary arteries, but CCTA + FFR offers a safe and patient-friendly alternative. CCTA + FFR helps determine if a blockage in your coronary artery is actually restricting blood flow to the heart muscle.

This information is crucial for guiding treatment decisions. If a blockage appears significant on a CTA scan but CCTA + FFR reveals minimal blood flow restriction, a less invasive approach may be suitable.
